I cannot image that all these parts have a life of 12K. I assume they
bunch them together at a service because it is cheaper to have them
changed together. If you do your own work this is not an issue. FYI my
first fuel filter went to 20K miles without an issue. I changed it at
20K for peace of mind since I was doing other work.

I used the BMW motorcycle fuel filter (1/3 the cost) at my 12K service.
Although I had my 24K done a couple months ago, I'm waiting for spring
to do the fuel filter, plugs, air filter, etc.
