RE: [ST] Gearing Question

John,
I ran the 43/17 for two seasons and noticed a couple mpg drop in gas
mileage. The transformation to the performance is dramatic. No more
slipping the clutch or waiting for the engine to come up on the power band
when pulling away from a stop.

My rule of thumb:
Each tooth drop at the countershaft results in aprox. 1 mph per 1k rpm
change in 6th gear, which is roughly the same as the difference in the 5th
and 6th ratios.
