[ST] Gearing Question

>>I just ordered a chain and a new pair of sprockets for my 01. At 18k miles
the stock chain has had it. I ordered up a Triumph brand 17 tooth counter
sprocket, thinking that I'd go for a little more acceleration at the
expense
of top speed since I don't ride at 155mph very often. Anyway, I thought
OEM
was an 18 tooth, but it looks like it's 19 based on the FAQ. Has anyone
dropped down two teeth on the front? If so, what are your impressions?
Any
problems? Big drop in gas mileage? I'm keeping 43 on the rear. If it's
too radical of a change, I guess I can always go for the 18 later.

I use the 17T counter sprocket with the standard rear sprocket ('03 Sprint) and
I can recommend the change. Gas mileage is about the same (a little less), you
do loose some top speed but the improvement in acceleration (especially out of
corners) is worth it. You'll find yourself visiting the rev-limiter a few
times until you get used to it!
