[ST] Rossi unhappy with US track

Monterey, California - World champion Valentino Rossi says the Laguna Seca circuit for the US Grand Prix is unsuitable for motorcycle racing.

The race will be held in the US for the first time since 1994 on Sunday (July 10) and Rossi was clearly disappointed after the first day of practice.

He said: "The track was quite dangerous in many points, but some are very, very dangerous.

"When you walk around or go with a scooter it's dangerous, but it's less dangerous on a motorbike.

He added: "The level of security is not very good, certainly not as good as the other tracks we go to

"If they don't change it, I don't think we will be able to race here again."

Compatriot Marco Melandri couldn't help agreeing with Rossi; his initial poor impression of the place was cemented after a spectacular crash in the notorious Corkscrew. He was lucky to escape with only bruising to his ankle and wrist.

He missed the rest of the morning session but rode again in the afternoon.

He said: "I find the track so much less fun than I thought.

"It's not so nice 
It's small, slippery, bumpy. Also the corners, nothing special. For our bike, too much power this track. You fly everywhere.
