Indeed, many mechanics I've asked over the years either reply they know torque
by feel, or don't pay much attention and tighten as much as they can, sheesh.

So yesterday while getting new tires on the truck I was surprised and pleased
when after putting the wheels back on with the airgun the tech comes back
around and finished the job with a clicking torque wrench!  He even applied it
in what I'd say was a proper pattern and repeated it around the lugs of each
wheel.  

An all around pleasant experience had at a local Discount Tires shop.  No
affiliation, just a happy customer.
