Fred,

I think you may have misread my note - it said there were no significant
changes made until 2002.....i.e. his 2001 is not different from the '99 and
2000 covered in the Hayne's manual.  They describe valve work just as it
should be done in the '01 model.  The '02 model was substantially changed
which is why the Haynes won't work for your bike.
