 I would tend to agree with you Don.
 
Here in the land of Oz we have only a couple of oil refineries suppling our fuel and lubricant needs. A neighbour of mine from years ago worked at the Shell refinery in Sydney. He quite often remarked at how laughable it was to see all the marketing crap that oil suppliers went on with as all their oils were supplied from the one refinery and they all started with the same base oil. The only difference was a bunch of additives that each brand was specifically ordered with, such as teflon, colouring, friction modifiers, even extra viscocity (???).
 
Essentially, if you use the correct weight oil that meets the relevent minimum standard and you change it regularly, your engine will hum along thanking you for the slipperyness...
