RE: [ST] Octane
Well, my commute home in the peak FLA heat didn't seem to affect anything. I got no pre-detonation, that I could notice. So it seems 87 octane may be fine for me and my 2000 RS.
Florida is flat and straight with no hills, so that's a plus.
Thanks for peaking my curiosity. Now I know I can use 87 with no ill affects, I'm gonna. Especially with prices what they are today.

All I know is that my 2002 RS will knock with 89 if I put a heavy load on the motor, such as a big handful of throttle coming out of a steep uphill corner in too low a gear. It doesn't when I run 91 ("Premium"). Note that I'm running a custom tune ("PKs Touring Tune" via TuneBoy). Bike runs fine, so I put in the good stuff and go...
