you can also spring an oil leak from this vicinity if your chain is too
tight -- you may even get away by loosening the chain a bit, which will
relieve the strain on the seal, but it probably depends on how long the
condition has existed

Guy,
How many miles does your ST have? How much oil is it using? My ST
burns some oil.

What do you use for chain lube? I think it is really hard to
differentiate an oil leak in that area from the mess made by chain
lube.
