[ST] Suspension

Hi all,

For those of you cruising around without ever having checked out your suspension/ sag/ rear preload etc - I recommend you hunt down someone that has done it before and get them to help you to set up your own.

A mate helped me do mine yesterday evening, and it has made a big difference to how the bike feels.

He still isn't happy with the front compression and rebound damping - too soft per him, but that means changing oil & fiddling with valving, so I'll leave it for now.

It took three of us to do all the measurements, the back was 99% OK but the front was way to little preload.

We upped a little preload and rebound damping on the back, quite a bit more preload on the front, and I'm amazed at the difference its made.

No more "pitching" over the rough stuff going into corners.

He's thinks we might need to drop the forks a few mills to quicken the steering now, anyone tried that ?

BTW I had a ride on his SV1000 - I'm pretty happy I went with the RS instead of the SV, felt like a rattling, tall bucket of bolts - with no more grunt than my RS.

cheers

Marc
