[ST] Moto-GP at Barber

Hey Folks,
Had to pitch in on this one as well. After riding on the track at Barber Motorsports Park, (and spending quite a few weekends there as well with buddies racing WERA/CCS/F-USA) I agree with the point of view most of the racers I have talked with have as well.......Why in the everloving name of the Allmighty would you bring 220+ horsepower machines with 200+ MPH speed to a track that a solid (if unspactacular) racer never gets out of third or at most fourth gear on?! Sorry, I love Barber. I do think they should bring WBK (and better yet, World Supersport too-Woo Hoo) to Barber, but no way Moto-GP. I'd love to see/hear them at Road America. Looong track, looong straits, pretty place as well. Road Atlanta would be pretty cool also. I agree that the AMA is screwing the pooch. Easy enough to fix, and already put forth here earlier, Superbike and FX=Factory teams/high profile factory support teams (Yosh/Attack/Erion), Supersport and Superstock=Privateers/tier 2 support teams on basically stock bikes (we have endless debates about 1 spec/brand tire for these classes as well to even the field ). Much could be done to improve the show. Could be worse though, they (AMA) could look as inept and silly as F1 ;^) !!! Getting the '99 back after an alternator rebuild by the gents at Ducati/Triumph Atlanta. Was getting the high idle, dying when dropped into first deal. Turns out the brushes in the alternator were shot after 40K of spirited riding. Hopefully this will put us back right. If you are riding this weekend, have a great time. Anyone going to Road Atlanta for the WERA National round this weekend? (July 2-3) It only runs about $15-$20 bucks for a ticket for the weekend, and this is where you get to see the real "up and comers" on the way up. This is where John Hopkins pretty much blew everyone away as a kid on his way to Moto-GP. Happy Birthday everyone in the states, and have a great weekend one and all.

Post,
Dave Smoot
