You may need to reroute them but you do not *have* to use longer
cables to put tubular bars on the ST. My ST has Suzuki Bandit 1200
bars installed [visualize a Texas Longhorn] and I'm using the
rerouted, stock throttle and clutch cables. I did install a longer
hose from the master cylinder to the rt. brake caliper.
