[ST] poor performance

Here's a question for the tuners:

My '04 RS has an aftermarket slip on, made locally by a well thought of pipe maker. I picked him because he runs an RS himself, and I was told he spent many hours on the Dyno getting the pipe right for his own RS.

The pipe sounds great, and has a hugely strong mid range, with no stumbles etc.

The local triumph guys loaded a triumph mapping which they said would suit the pipe.

I recently got the bike to 1300kms, and the run in guide says I can rev it to 8000 rpm from 1280kms (800 miles) to 1600kms (1000 miles).

It feels to me like the bike runs into a wall at 7500 kms, there is a strong pull to 7000rpm and then it seems to flatten off, when I was expecting it to keep building.

The Triumph guys have rechecked the mapping, and their advice was to run the bike in further, to say 2000 kms before trying to push the motor past 7500 kms. They don't agree with the shorter run in guide that Triumph uses now and tell me the motor is still too tight to draw any conclusions about the pipe before 2500kms (1500 miles).

Someone else I know of has the same model, the same pipe, but fitted it at 2500 kms and is very excited with the performance.

Should I be worried or do I just wait to see how the motor loosens up?

thanks

Marc
