On my previous '01 ST and the current '04, I ran the SS Triumph off-road can
with the Triumph off-road FI map. Mileage on both bikes ranged from 43 mpg
for short distance, around town operation, to 50-ish for longer operation on
the slab and such with speeds up to low 80's mph. Higher rpm riding on the
two lane roads around these parts gets mileage into the 45-46 mpg range.
All mileages are for US gallons. I agree with the others that your mileage
is less than it should be from your description of your driving methods,
which sound about the same as mine. Rte 1 to Monterey is another matter
altogether, and who cares about mpg at a time like that?? BFG.
