Re: [ST] Old vs. new

My first road bike in Australia was a 1991 Suzuki GSX750F. I thought I would be really clever and put a four into one Megacycle pipe on it so it would sound sexy and go better.

My first problem was that it was just way to loud and incredibly anti social, especially returning home from a night shift and staying with my girlfriend at her parents house. It resonated wonderfully throught the sand stone ridge that they liverd on.

My second problem was that I couldnt find a mechanic to tune it properly. It ran incredibly rich, had no bottom end and I got about 170kms to reserve from a 19lt tank!

The third problem was the pipe ran underneath the sump plug meaning it had to come off to do a simple oil change. I rode everyday, so 5000km's racked up pretty quick. After a year I sourced a set of the original twin pipes from a wrecker for $250.00, got it retuned with a near new set of carbs from a wreck and never looked back.

I reckon the underseat exhaust is a good thing for the Triumph. It just needs a little tweaking, along with a few other things on the bike.

Hmmm, main complaint seems to be exhaust heat with the '05 model. I like what
Buell have done with the exhaust 'problem'. It's low and out of the way, guess
it would make it difficult to access the oil dain plug though...
