[ST] Oil Consumption

Hi All,

My bike needed the oil topped up.  I've been slack and didn't check the oil until now -I didn't think it would use much oil so soon.

It needed 300 millimeters of oil , last checked by the agents when the oil was changed at 1 000kms in May, and I've now done 5 500kms.

I asked the agents who sold me the bike, who said its usual for the triple to use a little bit of oil in the first few thousand kms. They also said not to use synthetic oil for the first 10 000kms, which is not what the owners manual says.

To check the oil I ran the bike around the block to warm it up, then let it stand for five minutes. I cleaned the dip stick, screwed it back in with the bike on the side stand, then just lifted the bike to the vertical position, and checked the oil level on the dip stick.

( I didn't use my paddock stand because it tilts the bike quite far forward. )

I got a shock when the dip stick showed nothing, it took 100 mills to show at the bottom of the dip stick.

Should I be worried ? Have I screwed up the measurement technique and over filled the bike with oil now?
