Re: [ST] st Digest, Vol 7, Issue 23

Brad,

My 99 ST is doing exactly the same thing. I know it never used to, it just started this summer. It runs flawlessly otherwise. It is however due for the 24k valve service. It will be interesting to see if the standard service clears this phenomenon.

My local Triumph wrench told me that the ECU will kick the idle up automatically if the battery is low. I don't know if that is the cause of ours. I will be doing the service over the winter so I won't have any quick replies to this, but if you get it figured out, let me know.

Cheers,

When my 00 Sprint ST engine is not under load (i.e. transmission in neutral)
it idles at 1500 RPM, which seems a bit fast to me. When I disengage the
clutch and shift into first, the idle drops to 1050 RPM. Do they all do
this? I don't know if it is something I have just noticed or if I have a
problem that needs to be looked at.

Thanks in advance.
