Re: [ST] DIY Fork Maintenance - for George K

Rod -

I used 15w oil, two turns on the emulators, and a 135mm air column. I adjusted my pre-load to 7 full turns on the caps. That will probably be way different than yours. I made a mistake and cut my spacers down, I don't think the emulators were all the way down when I measured them. Anyway I wound up adding some other spacers and some washers to make up for that error. So I guess my forks are unique.

As I was checking my notes, I saw that I didn't write down the mileage when I did all this but based upon other notes, I'd guess I have about 3,000 miles on them and couldn't be happier.

George,
Just finished putting new tires, chain and sprockets and RT's are in the
mail. What wt oil did you use? My HyperPro's are similar to if not
identical to your Wilber springs and they came with 5wt. RT says 15wt,
but RT says 15wt for everything. I changed out the 5wt for 10wt and saw
some improvement, I think, after a while your head tells you it's better
even if there really isn't any difference.
Thanks for any comments or advise,
Rod
