Don,
I stopped asking RT questions because I always felt like I was getting a
snow job. When I was doing the research for my Connie, I tried every
combination on their site for a ZG1000 from 180 pounds to 250 plus new guy
with a soft ride to full race expert. The only thing that changed was the
spring rate. It might be better now. Funny they give you 5wt and mine was
15wt. We aren't that different. I guess the part that smells the most like
old fish is that 25% difference because it isn't less oil, it's more because
you measure from the top. I'm far from an expert on hydraulics but any
mention of hydrostatic lock has always been a bad thing in my mind and one
of the principal reasons why damper rod shocks suck. Anywho, I just
measured my sag and it's somewhere between 30 and 34mm. I'm not a track guy
so if it's close I just crank the pre-load if I don't like what's happening
until it feels good and to hell with numbers out to ten decimal places.
Besides I did a totally scientific/exhautive test, I rode it around the
block and made it back alive.
