Re: [ST] RS question

The bike I described wasn't an RS - it was actually a 500 Guzzi with plated bores. We took the cylinders to a trusted shop and they just ran their stock honing brush through them to break the glaze. This didn't harm the bores one bit, and I'm sure the same would apply to the RS. Of course the RS will be substantially more awkward to strip down than the old transverse V twin, so maybe Mike should try the simpler possibilities first. Such as the injectors being fouled, for example (try a shot of Redex), or the air filter blocked, or the valves being out.

My RS has the race tune and a Remus race can on, usually. But at annual MOT time here in the UK they will fail you on a race can, so I always swap back to stock for the test. And the bike runs OK. It smells a bit rich, but if anything the sub-3000 rpm pull and behaviour is even better than on the race can. Which makes it a delight to ride in traffic etc. AND it'll still redline, if you're that sort of rider........
