Re: [ST] Counter Rotating Brakes



The thing here is to find out what the real failure rate of this mechanism would be, and how it compares to the failure of other components (tires blow, transmissions seize, brake hoses crack, all sorts of things CAN go wrong, and we weigh the risk of that.  Again the question is "is it a substantially higher risk/more frequent occurance".  Hell, as we just heard, sounds like the BMW ABS system has a ridiculously high risk of failing...depends on whether you are ok with that risk).
 
So the design doesn't make me nervous, unless some failure of this system is shown to be more frequent than any other problematic failure.

Whoops, Tim beat me, lol. 
  Good idea, but I'm not sure if I like the idea of gears being tied in with my front wheel. If a transmission lockes up, there rear skids, and will usually lead to a low side or a safe stop, even if the rear tire is flat spotted. But the front you have no control.
