Re: [ST] for Brett - fuel economy

As I said its been the subject of a few current affairs programs over here.

Those shows that are on after the news for half an hour that regularly run
stories about dodgy builders and heartless banks with their fees and supermarket
price surveys on differing prices depending on which suburb you shop in
(apparently the richest places always pay the least for groceries) and of course
stories about the price of fuel. The thermal expansion was demonstrated for the
camera and several station operators said the fuel arrives warm from the
refinery in the tankers. Naturally, the refinery owners (Shell, BP) admitted the
fuel is warm from the refining process, but this is measured when its delivered
and an allowance is made to the retail operator. If theres any profiteering
going on, its by the retailers.

And so the arguement goes on.

Maybe its purely anecdotal, maybe its a practice of the industry. Maybe a bit
of both.

Theres always a plausible explanation for when the price spikes at the bowser
every holiday period, without fail. Part of the regular price cycle. Its just
coincidence.

I have been very interested in all the info this discussion has brought
about.

Brett
Sydney.
