Re: [ST] disturbing noises - how worried should I be??

So, my 01 had a clanking noise that I found when rolling it around in the garage...could it be clanking and not clicking? ;-)

My noise was coming from the header in the collector area. I pulled the can and pipe and could run a flexi-grabber tool up the pipe into the collector and found it was a loose baffle plate. Was warrantied by Triumph.

  OK - here's my situation...

I've never really had much cause to roll the bike around while not under
power. I recently did a significant amount of jockeying toys around the
garage and as I was rolling the Sprint backwards, I heard a fairly loud
'clicking' coming from the rear-end. As I experimented around I found that:

1) The clicking seems to be inconsistent in terms of frequency
when rolling at a constant rate (walking speed)
2) The clicking is heard rolling forward as well as backward
3) The clicking volume seems to be the same forward or backward
4) The clicking is not detectable even at idle engine speed volume.
5) I can hear it when on the center stand, engine off
6) I tried getting rolling to about 20mph and killing the
engine - I cannot hear the clicking in this case.

Aside from this clicking noise, I've not noticed any problem (vibration,
shaking or other noises) coming from the rear-end.

Any thoughts?? This is spooking me a bit with just one month to go
before my first multi-thousand mile trip....
