Re: [ST] ST alternatives

Motorrad in Germany and MotoPlus in Holland did comare 5 bikes recently:
  MZ 1000ST
  Honda VFR800Fi
  BMW R 1200ST
  Ducati ST3s
  Triumph Sprint ST
   
  There is no real winner, in short they concluded: 
  The Beemer is butt-ugly and pricy, but performing great.
  the Viffer is lacking power, but a well balanced machine
  The Ducati is invinceable on the suspension, frame and standard accesoiries
  The MZ is cheap has a lot of extra's, but is running bad under 3000 rpm
  The Triumph is the emotional winner, but looses from the Beemer and Viffer on gearbox and suspension

  Other alternatives are the 
  Yamaha FJR 1300a
  BMW R 1200S
  .....
   
  Unfortunately it looks like I have to make this shortlist sooner then I hoped it would be.
  My first 3 options are:
  New 2001 model Sprint ST
  New 2006 model Sprint ST with ABS
  New BMW R 1200 GS with the touratech catalogue (and it's contents) included.
   
  So who can think of any other reasonable option.
