Re: [ST] Who do you call?

Rich,
I would love to go to your dealer because that would mean I would be able to
try out those great CA roads I keep hearing about.

I didn't have the problem because when I had issues I was living in PA and
had a great dealership. The guy I was referring to was in LA and on another
list. He had to drive two hours to his dealership. That dealership in the
past couldn't even get a fork seal on right, but right at the end of his
warrantee period he had a problem with not maintaining idle. I believe if
he blipped his throttle the engine would die. The bike was in the shop for
over six weeks and they said they couldn't get it right. The guy tried
calling Triumph America. That's what started the thread, he wanted to know
who to call and the list provided name, address and number. He left messages
and got no reply. When he finally got through he was told his warrantee had
expired a month and half ago and that it was his responsibility to fix it.
I'm getting this second hand but from my experiences with that guy I'm sure
he did nothing to check on what I see is a very bad reflection on Triumph -
a dealership that can't fix simple problems. Also, from the way I read it,
the problem began in the warrantee period.

Just as some background, that same guy told me words to the effect that it
required a Triumph certified mechanic to replace a fuel fitting and that if
I did it, it would void my warrantee. First of all, at the time (and
probably still) Triumph did not have "certified" mechanics and in the USA
working on your own bike does not void a warrantee. Oh yes, and this is
almost a quote, he said that fuel fittings were not an issue and that
Triumph has more problems with paint than with fuel fittings. How many
bikes do you know of that caught on fire from paint? Shortly thereafter
NHTSA issued a recall on those fittings.
