Re: [ST] rear brake sensitivity question

Hi Philip,

I'm a riding instructor and spend quite a lot of my time teaching people how
to brake properly. My workhorse for this job is a Sprint ST. While the rear
brake is certainly capable of locking the rear wheel the bike is by no means
prone to such behaviour (and this is my third 955).

My suspicion would be that you have the rear brake pedal set too high and
are therefore applying too much brake pressure when you use the rear. Try
dropping the pedal 5-10mm and see if that makes it easier for you to
modulate the pressure. A few mm on the adjuster screw will drop the pedal
about 1 cm so adjust it a little at a time.

I had to smile when I read your original post.
Normally we get a spate of people complaining that the STs rear brake is
useless rather than too powerful. Personally I think it's adaquate, no more
and no less.
