Re: [ST] Touring on a sport bike

What I found strange was that I felt that the back set-up on my RS 955
was better than on the newer ST 1050.

The RS back end was comfortable over the bumps without feeling "wallowy"
in long fast corners. I never quite got the front right on my RS, I
think it needed more rebound damping.

On my Daytona I run on the stock factory settings -it is spot on for
fast road riding, a real marvel and I can give the Jap bike owners a
real run for their money over road surfaces that arent track quality.
The Daytona inspires confidence, which the ST should also do.

What I cant do is take a pillion long distance -my wife hates the bike
so much I don't even have the rear foot rests and seat on any more. She
would prefer me to buy an ST (or a K1200s Beemer - heresy!), but at the
moment I'd rather get her on her own bike.

For the life of me I cant understand why they would take a step
backwards on the suspension on the ST1050, when so much else of the bike
is a refinement on the ST955.

Why build a bike that is such a great all-rounder -good looking, nicely
balanced, a peach of a motor- and then deny the owner the option of
dialling in a more sporty set-up?
