Here's a potentially easy fix:

Most electrical wholesalers sell small connecters that can be used to
"splice" wires that have a damaged section.

It looks like a tiny conductive tube surrounded by a tough plastic
insulator.

All you do is cut the wire at the part it is damaged, use a
wire-crimping tool to strip off some of the insulator of each end of the
wire that needs to be rejoined, slide into the connecter, crimp it and
its fixed.

Shouldn't take more than two minutes to do, and no stripping, solder etc
etc.
