Re: [ST] Ignition short -- electrical woes - sigh

Generally referred to as "butt splice" connectors here... cut the wire
where the short is, strip the ends, crimp in place. Not as solid a
connection as a solder joint, but a quick fix. However, there is most
likely a reason for the wire shorting. I'd recommend adding a little
length to that wire to relieve some of the stress. This would be best
done by soldering in a new section of wire and covering with heat-shrink
tubing, but you have to know how to solder, and you'll want to
disconnect the other end of the wire from whatever its plugged in to so
you don't damage anything (DAMHIK).

Here's a potentially easy fix:

Most electrical wholesalers sell small connecters that can be used to
"splice" wires that have a damaged section.

It looks like a tiny conductive tube surrounded by a tough plastic
insulator.

All you do is cut the wire at the part it is damaged, use a
wire-crimping tool to strip off some of the insulator of each end of
the
wire that needs to be rejoined, slide into the connecter, crimp it and
its fixed.

Shouldn't take more than two minutes to do, and no stripping, solder
etc
etc.

Let us know how it goes,

Cheers
