Dolsen on the TriumphRat list did the temp thing and recommends it although not exactly the way discribed here.  I also saw that you can take the pressure cold then go for a ride.  If the psi goes more than 3psi when warm then you need to lower the pressure.  If it doen't change then you are too low.
