A HANS-type device for motorcyclists has already been reported in the
press.

Ideally the rider should be enclosed in a two-part titanium casting
hinged at the rear and custom-made to fit.  One would hinge open the
side, step in, closing it afterwards.  One leg might need to be left
protruding to hold the bike up until forward motion has been achieved
but this could be raised and covered with an aircraft-style
undercarriage door to protect that part of the anatomy while in motion.

According to the theory of motor-evolution, bikes will become cars and
cars will become trains.

In a big shunt involving something hitting your head the helmet
probably
wont save you anyway - what protects your neck?
