Re: [ST] Fast Lane or - EZ Pass transponder mounting

I usually stuff mine into the map window of my tank bag and have not had any problems. The Triumph map pocket is removable and velcros onto the mounted base, so if I dont want the whole bag, I still have the map pocket with my EZ pass. But since I am in the process of relocating to VA where it is likely that my commute will involve up to three tolls and I am thinking of one of these:

The Ez Pass works on a radio transmitter basis that receives a "call" to turn it on, it reads/deducts and then turns off.

There is a thread on ST-N that talks about this too. http://www.sport-touring.net/forums/showthread.php?t=78019&page=1&pp=20

In this thread I recall someone mounting it within the fairing on their FJR.

I always just stuffed mine (Smarttag in VA) down into the vent slot for the
windshield. It stays well, but can scuff the inside of the shield. With
the touring screen, it fits well, but is a little loose.

I like the Capt's shoulder trick, but another option is to mount it to the
top of your helmet!

Seriously, I saw a guy with one on his helmet. It was very funny!

PS, I've been pulled by the cops for my transponder not working while on a
bike. Officially, bike mounted Smarttags are not supported. Cop simplty
called in my number and had the toll deducted. No ticket or hassle.

Hey all,

Anyone out there who has mounted the toll transponder for the Fast Lane/EZ
Pass (US - Northeast area - for toll roads)? I have always mounted them on
the inside of my windscreen, but I just put a ZG double bubble on my ST
(thanks Doug!) and would like to find another spot. Preferable one where it
can not be seen, but still work (also so I can leave the thing on when I
park). I was thinking about trying to find a spot to put it inside and
under the headlight assembly, but don't know if it will work through the
body work. Thoughts?

Thanks,

Jonathan
