It's a radio transmitter. It needs to not be blocked by metal, lead and
other dense materials. Doesn't have to be visible.

I put it inside the double-bubble when I had one. I haven't really
thought
of another good place to leave on the bike. I believe it needs to be
visible (have never had it work without being visible).
