Re: [ST] REAR BEARING AND STUFF

G'DAY FOLKS..

Concerns me when I hear about rear bearing failures
( from Jacks mail - "Then David found it. The rear wheel
bearing had started coming apart! Lucky boy was he." )

Interested to see why this happened ( I've had 2 fail ) Was
his covered by the re-call - was it serviced at 20 & 40k
klms ? He was lucky not to have it fail at speed - been
there done that ;(

My comfort check before a ride is have the bike on the
centerstand, start it up so it warms up a bit - look at the
rear wheel spinning slowly in neutral - that tells me the
bearing is ok - if the wheel does not spin, check your
chain and or bearings ??

Was fortuneate to get some GenBar risers off e`bay for
A$56.00 (US 43.00) and will put them on tonight - just to
see if it makes a big difference.

I am also looking for the black plastic side covers that go
under the soft pannier bags - if there are any out there in
good conditon I can get them paid for a shipped easily.

Cheers, Harry - Enjoy the ride, that's what it's all about
