My RS says 25-35mm and I split the difference and try to keep it at 30mm (give or take)

Forgot to mention, with the chain its better to be a little bit loose
rather than a little bit tight. The tighter the chain, the faster it
will stretch/wear.

There are actually two different specs listed, depending on whether
you've got a single sided swingarm or not. The manual states 35-40mm
(1.4-1.6in) for the SSSA (on centerstand?) and 25-30mm (1-1.4in) for
DSSA versions. Both of these are with the bike unloaded...
