Re: [ST] Corbin vs Sargent Seat

Well I said I get around to this, so here goes. As always, YMMV, this is my $0.02, etc.....

Stock seat: we are all familiar with this one. Decent seat, padding is a bit too soft which bottoms out on long rides and wears on the arse. It is sloped towards the tank (probably due to trying to fit all size riders - the larger you are, you can just slide back a bit - so more of a one size fits all).

Corbin Gunfighter and Lady: Much flatter and wider seat - actually seems to promote being further away from the tank. Felt like it worked best with your butt back against the transition, but that really felt like I was superman - hands straight out in front of me and my body lying flat (at least that is how it felt and had to consciously work to keep my body in that position). Moving up on the seat didn't feel good. A bit "bucket shaped" too, so with your feet on the ground, you feel the lips on the the two side under your legs - good for when all the way back though. The seat is REALLY hard/firm. This seemed to accentuate anytime you hit a bump and separated from the seat - when the seat came back it would give you a good thwack on the bum. I wasn't excited about the fit on the bike either.

Sargent Worldsport: I like this better, but not enough to keep it. Has nice touches like the bungee hooks and underseat storage cannister. The look of the build appeared better than the Corbin (didn't have either long enough to say one lasted x-years longer obviously). Not quite as bucket shaped as the Corbin, but wider and flatter than stock just like the Corbin. It is also a little softer than the Corbin. A good thing in my estimation - still firm and nice, but not like a rock like the Corbin seats (to note, I've had and kept Corbin seats on my other bikes, and don't believe that they break-in as much as the rider gets used to the seat - six of one, half dozen of the other...). Still felt a little too "supermanned" though in its ideal riding position

If these were my options, I would purchase the Sargent Worldsport. Hey, at worst try it like I did and send it back for a refund - that's a nice safety net for this kind of money.

I ended up with a Custom Sargent seat on the stock Triumph seatpan. Fits the bike perfectly, and still have the bungee under the seat for the tool kit. The Sargent padding I still think is better than the Corbin - firm but just enough softer than the Corbin to be more comfortable. Heck - I just did 2000 this past weekend to the Dragin RAID and back and was NEVER sore. Really unbelievable actually - I love this seat. The seating area on this was made flatter side to side, and thus feels much wider and is more supportive. I obviously got the foam upgrade, which is a big improvement. The transition point was moved back giving more room to move around and change positions if needed - yet anywhere along the seat is equally as comfortable, and is not moving/sliding me forward (slope) or back (bucket).

Really the best way to go, and it cost the same as a Worldsport.

Wouldn't bore me, I'm still not 100% which seat will end up on Skittles.

I really like the seat. The look is great as is the comfort (and I've
had both the Corbin and Sargent mass-produced seats for the Sprint). I
have the original order form that can show you what options were chosen
and how much it costed. I can also take pictures of the seat if you
want (and can take pictures side-by-side with a stock seat too, since I
have both). Additionally, I can go into all of the differences between
the 4 seats (stock, Corbin, Sargent, and Sargent Custom) if you want;
but I want bore people who may not be interested.

Matt do you like the seat? I would love to know what options were
chosen and what the cost was.
