Re: [ST] ST compared to other "faster" bikes (was ST alternatives)

Rear shock is stock - but probably has to go. I have both the preload and damping at their maximum. I need the shock that stiff to prevent too much squat and keep it planted, but also need more damping now (the damping is overwhelmed a bit, and I get some wallow on really long sweepers at full lean that I would like to get rid of). The front end has been race-teched - huge difference......

Matt, Is your suspension stock or tweeked? I think alot has to do with both rider and suspension.

I'll chime in on this one. I was down at the Dragon RAID this past weekend, and went out on a ride on Saturday. Some other guys had told me that these two particular guys (one on a GSXR-1000, the other on a Daytona 955) were crazy fast, and crazy. I was very intimidated, but consider myself a reasonably fast rider. Now, I have to admit that the GSXR literally walked away from me in a straight line when I was at WFO - it was a little embarassing... I think the ST is plenty fast, but that thing..... My embarrasment disappeared though as I was able to out brake and vastly out corner both of these guys. Definitely more about the rider, and some of the advantages of the supersport bikes just aren't really usable on the road. It felt good and I was flying - a very cool high.

An interesting thing to note is that while I've played an had the ST up there in speed in the past, while ringing the neck of the ST trying to keep with the GSXR on the straights and out brake, I went fast then I ever have - by A LOT! I didn't even notice, but Sunday for my ride back, I was resetting my trip log and noticed a new top speed - 157mph!!!! Holy F$%k! I'm glad I didn't look at the speedo, as I would have been very scared seeing 170-something. This bike really does have legs and can handle sweetly - but more on that later....
