I always fill on the centerstand. I am sure that you can put more gas in that way, at least a couple of oz's. And for me it makes every gas fill the same for MPG comparisons.

There was no foreign slipery stuff, just water on my boot.

The main points of my post were:
1) be careful,
2) a little piece of "grip" tape could save you grief.
