Wow. Lucky you - it is a great part of the world to visit. I've not
yet had chance to ride bikes in that part of France, so can't advise
on roads. But if you are so inclined, I would recommend you visit
Cognac (there are tours of the Cognac houses that are well worth
doing), and St Emilion (follow the Gironde to Bordeaux, and on - it
is just by Libourne) - a quite amazing town that is left-over
somewhat unchanged from the 100 years war, with really pretty
architecture and a huge 'underground' cathedral. In both places the
wine is quite good too... (if you like that sort of thing).
