I just  changed mine. It was starting to hesitate and if I put the bike on
for one minute w/ lights on before cranking, it didn't start. Then because
I use the bike mainly to go to work every day, I changed it. 47 Euros. Not
a big deal. For me 4 years is OK.

In addition, if the battery drain to much power out of the alternator to 
charge
I am afraid of damaging it.

Not to mention that not being able to start because of a battery that 
you know have been
faulty is IMHO looking for trouble.
