[ST] Jackets and gloves

In addition to boots, I'm also going to buy a better jacket than the
mesh jacket I currently use. I'd like a textile jacket that is at
least water resistant, but with enough venting that I could wear it
in the summer heat of the southeast US. I'm currently considering
this jacket:

But they mention that the "waterproof, breathable liner" is between
the vents and your body, making the venting somewhat ineffective.
I'm curious if anyone has any direct experience with this style of
jacket, whether the venting will work well enough to wear the jacket
in the summer. Some of the jackets have a zip-out windproof and
waterproof liner, so I'm wondering if something like that might be
more usable.
Also, I'm looking to get new gloves as well. I was thinking of
getting gauntlet-style gloves, something similar to the Alpinestar
SP2, but I'm not sure if I want to spend that much on gloves just
yet, and whether the gauntlet is actually a bad idea because it will
prevent air from blowing into the jacket through the end of the
sleeve. I'm curious what gloves people have tried that they liked in
the $40-$80 range, keeping in mind that most of my riding is in
rather warm weather.
