Re: [ST] Drive by Wire

The main problem in racing a system like that is caused by not being able to get wheel spin where you want it out of the turns. The system is a fly by wire, but still has a throttle cable for a returning the throttle bodies to the closed system. It is designed for more uniform power delivery, which will make the bike easier to ride. It has worked, as my buddy's R6 he got last month is much better than an 04 I rode at a demo day. It has no bog when going wide open, even at low rpms. The computer prevents it from opening the throttles more than indicated rpm would allow, to make the delivery smooth and very predicatable. I could probobly run a bit faster, and alot more comfortable on the track with the fly by wire system. But then again, I don't spin the rear wheel half way through the turn on exiting like Rossi does. Then, I believe the system would be harder to ride.

I don't know that I'd like a drive by wire throttle system on a motorcycle, especially something like the R1. If I recall correctly, didn't Rossi say he hated drive by wire on the bike and had it removed?
