Re: [ST] Frame snap!



I've also been wondering about the long term implications of the trend toward building "controlled flex" into the chassis of the current rocket bikes to improve rider "feel". In my experience flexing aluminum on purpose is generally a bad thing. It would be really informative to have that chunk of broken frame to look at under high magnification. Was the break a one time over load, or did it just finish the job started by a stress riser induced fatigue crack?

Wow. I wonder if this is a common problem. I wonder if this is an 
indication that perhaps the "reduce the weight in any way possible" race 
has no reached it's conclusion.
