Re: [ST] ST Bags on an RS

John,

I have an 02 RS and had the same thoughts. I never
executed them, but but I will share my findings with
you. Several ideas:

First, you can put side bags on your RS. It is very
expensive, the primary reason I did not. In addition
to the luggage kit, you will most likely have to
repaint the bags, and you will have to change out a
bunch of things. You will need to source from an ST
the left and right pegs and a muffler. Near as I could
tell, this would work. Although my list may be
incomplete. The top case , since most dont like it,
could be had much cheaper, and it holds more.

I could not live without a tank bag, although they are
sometimes a pain in the ass. I have smaller units, RKA
and Marsee, but Triumph makes two that fit the Sprint
nicely, and are well appointed. The larger one you
could get lost inside of. I will likely purchase one
of these. I am not much for throw over panniers, but
they are an option as well. I use an RKA tailpack that
is very versatile, and with a bit of fiddling and
about a $7 investment in a few bungee cords and misc
hardware, I have a mounting system that allows me to
mount or dismount the bag in a matter of seconds. The
big advantage of sofr bagge is you can cram more stuff
into them, becuase they bend to fit your stuff.

If you are interested in the tailpack setup, I would
be happy to layout my bungee and franken-bolt setup...

If you go the hard bag route, I will sell you the few
pieces that I began to collect, rear peg stays, etc...

Hope this helps...

John
