[ST] VIR Track Update

Well I got the chance to run both of Virginia International Raceway's courses this past weekend (North and South course). First off, VIR as a compound is just a beautiful country club. The scenary is great. The courses are in excellent shape - pavement with good grip, and with little imperfections. This really allows one to just flow with the tracks. And the facilities are top notch too. Was able to stay at the Lodge right on the track, and that place is really nice.

While the South course was fun, the North course is simply awesome (the North course is the AMA course). The elevation changes are much more drastic than it appears on tv, and that really made it fun. The course has a little bit of everything - fast turns, slow(er) turns, fast straights, hard braking, flowing switchbacks, uphill turns, downhill turns - man, just so much fun. It was a fantastic track. Now dealing with 108 degree temps on the track was a little brutal, but was worth it. I hope to go back again soon, and hope that it isn't so hot next time...

My form is coming around, and my lap times are dropping. And I'm feeling really confident and comfortable with speeds I never though I would.

I'm headed up to Pocono Raceway in a bit. Here's a picture of me getting at it at VIR.
