Hi John
Your wording suggests you aren't familiar with what Tuneboy does. It
allows you to alter the onboard ECU mapping to change the fuelling etc.
In a nutshell, you might improve it or you might break the bike! It's a
program for your pc with an unlock code for your bike.
The tune on a standard Sprint ST is rarely complained about so I see
only two reasons for wanting a Tuneboy:
a) You are a tweaker who likes (and knows how to) alter things for the
better (or to suit your preferences).
b) You want to be able to switch exhaust cans on a regular basis
(reduced back-pressure of free-flow units require re-mapping the
fuelling)
Possible third reason: Like to sit at the local biker meet with a
laptop plugged-in revving it up <G>
Bear in mind that the Tuneboy will only be licensed for the bike in
question, so parting it out after sale is not a money-spinner.
I haven't got one BTW

There are 2 levels of Tuneboy. The basic level does everything the
Triumph diagnostic tool(aka Gameboy) does. Read codes, etc. The 2nd
level allows you to change mapping. Both levels require you plug into
the ECU, get a code from it, then e-mail it to Tuneboy. They will send
back the cipher code to access the ECU. You can 'screw up' a mapping,
but if your a wise software developer, you would have a backup of the
working tune to download back into the ECU to start over again. There
are tools within Tuneboy for just such occation, as I understand. I've
been watching the development of Tuneboy from almost the beginning.
Wayne and his wife are the support for this interesting software. It
does more than a Performance Commander does, and doesn't add another
piece to fail, to the puzzle. The problem is there arn't a whole lot of
dynos that will touch it, because it isn't well known. But they have a
little trick, you can load Power Commander maps to the ECU via Tuneboy.
And it has an interface for the DynoJet dyno software. Check out
their website, very informative. The software is freeware, your paying
for the cypher key and the cable, basicly.
