Re: [St] Quick GenMar question

Engine, Brakes, Suspension, and Steering all get the torque wrench.
Everything else gets TFAR (that feels about right).
If the fastener in question fails, will I (or anyone) be put at risk for
getting hurt? If the answer is yes, use the torque wrench.

That's just me.

In my mind, it depends on the situation. I agree, I am not grabbing for
the torque wrench for the fairing bolts, but when the manual called for
a specific setting on my clutch cover, I didnt want to risk having to
replace larger parts than nec. Small price to pay, IMHO.

This is an interesting question that pops up from time to time.

I notice a lot of talk about torque values for pretty much every nut and
bolt, whereas I and many people I know (on the island of Oz) only worry
about this for things such as bolting an engine head back on. I wouldnt
use a torque wrench for fairing bolts etc.

Thoughts?

Brett.

Last night I threw a pair of GenMar risers onto my ST. If
I'm lucky, this will solve the problem of my not riding much
because my wrists can't handle it.

One quick question, though... the instructions said to torque
everything down to 14 foot-pounds. I was too lazy to come
back upstairs and grab the torque wrench. Do I really care,
or is "yeah, that's about right" good enough?
