Re: [St] RAT's

I'd like to chime in here. I'm impressed by Triumph's new products,
however, I'm not keen on their marketing and dealer network. I live outside
of Toronto and Triumph's only dealer in Toronto closed its doors Sept 2006.
The next closest dealers are 1 hour away from me and they are small
dealerships. Triumph's website did not list any demo truck days at all, and
the only RAT-related activity in Canada was on the west coast. I ended up
buying my Sprint as a direct result of a demo ride and would gladly have
travelled the hour if the demo truck was around.

The motorcycle show was last weekend and, as usual, no display by Triumph.
The good news is that two dealers are now taking on the Triumph line but
neither of them are up to speed yet. At least those dealerships were
showing a few models on their own (but not the new Tiger which was the one
I'm interested in).

I get the "I thought they were out of business" questions all the time as
well. But as has been said, if their business is booming, it is hard to
argue about their tactics. In business, there is little benefit in driving
up demand for a product you can't produce. They may be managing their
growth and expenses at the same time.

Funny, I just read in one of my mags that Triumph has experienced record
growth in the last two years.

Wonder how much better that would have been WITH show attendance?

Yo Dog,
What's up with Rat? I belong to HOG too, they give you something as a
member, Rat doesn't even give you a good publication on a regular basis?
Why isn't Triumph participating in the large motorcycle shows? It gives the
appearance they're going out of business. Several people have asked me how
come Triumph went out of business, etc. Their lack of participation hurts
their sales and our resales. I've had a 1200 Trophy, a 900 Legend, a 955
Sprint ST, and now a 1050 Sprint, so I follow the resale and it sucks. I
have turned several people over to Triumphs after trying mine, I'm pleased
with the bikes, very pleased, but Triumph is poor on listening to us. How do
we get them to pay attention to what we want?
