Re: [St] Brake Troubles

Yeah. I thought about that when I found the problem. After my track education I've been changed and rarely use the rear brake anymore, except for low speed coasting or parking lot stuff. But then a little voice said: what if something happens to the front brakes, then you'll be left with no brakes. That would really suck if that happened going 55+ MPH, wouldn't it?

So I decided to park it and figure things out, if I ever get the time.

Rich,

So go ride! Your front brake still works, doesn't it???

I went to take my RS up the road for fuel and while rolling down my driveway, NO REAR BRAKE! The pedal bottomed out and no brake action. My guess is the master cylinder went, but I haven't had time to look. I did look long enough to see that there is fluid in the reservoir, and no leaks around the master that I could see. I don't know what else it could be. Not unless the caliper pistons seized.

If I have to replace the master cylinder, any ideas if there's an aftermarket part or do I need to buy OEM from a Triumph dealer?

If it's the caliper, I remember seeing threads a year or so ago about using different calipers than the Triumph OEM. Any information on that? Like make, model, part number, etc.

BTW - I'm seriously bummed because it's still in the 80's here in Florida and I want to ride. Sorry. I had to throw that in for all you people that are iced or snowed in ;-)

Rich
