You can larf at this one :-D
I have a 350 Jawa Chopper in the shed (factory custom)
starts 3 or 4th kick depending how long the petrol's been in the float bowl 
etc.
but she never kicks back. worse for that was 250 MZ singles, get it wrong 
and you could leap in the air a bit.
Brother had a BSA Victor 441, kicked like a mule as our firends would say.
Any Rotax single, timing either with your leg or swing was crucial. i 
nicknamed mine, the exercise bike.
Triumph ST no problem with its electric leg.
